I am very humbled and honored to have been chosen to receive the CCIL Bursary. I have spent the last twenty years working in the materials engineering field. I felt I wanted more so I returned to school to complete my Civil Engineering Technology diploma. As a mature student and father, it can be a daunting task however receiving this bursary is a tremendous honor, and it will significantly alleviate the financial burden of my education. Your generosity will allow me to pursue my academic goals without worrying about the financial constraints.

2018-2019

Congrats to Michael M. as a recipient of the 18/19 CCIL scholarship at the College of the North Atlantic.

Michael noted, “I am very grateful to be one of the recipients of the 18/19 CCIL scholarship. This award will be very beneficial to me in terms of offsetting the costs encountered whilst pursuing a secondary education. I would like to thank CCIL for providing me with this opportunity. Moving hours away from your hometown is financially stressful while being a student, this sum of money relieves this issue.”

To me, this scholarship acknowledges the endless hours I put into my schooling, it is awesome to be rewarded for my hard work and dedication. I believe that organizations, like CCIL, help students strive to do their best. It is very thoughtful for CCIL to help upcoming professionals prior to their career, it really shows their appreciation for the industry.” The scholarship I received was of great help through my studies. It helped me pay my school fees. The act itself provides such a motivation, knowing that somebody out there cares and wants to see you go forward. Once again, I am very thankful and appreciative of the generosity.

2018 Award

Upon receiving this award I was a second year Environmental Engineering Technology student whom was a very eager learner while be involved in student and community life. Finding my balance between the final year of busy academics, volunteering with the community market as well being an active member of the Western Environment Centre felt well recognized. Having had the opportunity to be involved in the ceremony in which as a student was recognized for my dedication and determination on behalf of the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories was an extremely rewarding experience.

After graduation I began working as an Environmental Technician for Service NL. I intend to continue my studies in the fall of the New Year pursuing a Bachelor’s in Environmental Sustainability.
