CCIL Logo Use Policy

Preface

Membership in the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL) or certification by the CCIL enhances a company’s reputation by signaling a deep commitment to industry standards and ethical practices.  Membership also displays a pledge to quality, innovation and continuous improvement that can be used to establish a competitive advantage and help build trust with clients and partners.

The CCIL logos help to promote CCIL’s role as the Voice of Independent Testing in Canada and highlights our stated objectives to help protect the reliability of our transportation system, the structural integrity of our buildings, the safety of our products, the health of our environment, the cleanliness of our lakes and rivers, the safety of our food, and the quality of our drinking water.  By utilizing CCIL’s logos, laboratories help CCIL reinforce its brand while elevating their firms in the eyes of clients and regulators.

It is important to note that CCIL has two logos – a Member Logo and a Certification Logo.  While firms in the Environmental Life Sciences (ELS) division can only use the CCIL Member logo, firms certified by CCIL who operate in the Geotechnical/Construction Materials (GCM) division are encouraged to use both logos.

The CCIL Logo Use Policy stipulates where and how these logos can be used. It is important to note that holding CCIL certification does not automatically infer membership.  Certified laboratories need to apply separately for membership in CCIL.  To determine your membership status, please follow this link: www.ccil.com/member-labs/.

This policy describes the two CCIL logos and clarifies where each can be used.

CCIL Member Logo and CCIL Certification Logo

There are two separate logos promoted for use by the CCIL – a Member logo and a Certification logo.  The CCIL Certification logo can only be utilized by certified concrete, aggregate, and asphalt laboratories.  The CCIL Member logo can be used by all CCIL member laboratories.

Note: It is important that only official “document ready” copies of the logos are used to ensure the logo is reproduced with the proper resolution, font, lettering size, and aspect ratio.  Sizing the logo to meet specific needs is allowed if the aspect ratio and resolution are maintained.

The procedure to request approved document ready logos is included in this policy.

CCIL Member Logo

A copy of the CCIL member logo is presented below.

CCIL promotes the use of the Member logo by all members. The logo can and should be used in business communication, promotion, and advertising.

Only ELS Division laboratories can use the member logo on laboratory test reports. The Member logo should not be used by CCIL certified laboratories on test reports.

A copy of the logo can be requested by completing the attached CCIL  Member Logo Request/Agreement (included in this policy) and then forwarding the form to Head Office at ccil@ccil.com.

It is imperative that the use of the Member logo does not give the impression that a member laboratory is a CCIL certified laboratory.  It is considered a breach of ethics if a laboratory implies that they are certified when they are not.

CCIL Certification Logo

Laboratories that are certified by CCIL may choose to utilize the CCIL Certification logo on their test reports.  Before doing so, the laboratory must agree to specific conditions as noted in the CCIL Certification logo Request/Agreement included in this policy.  The agreement must be signed by the supervising engineer (for concrete) and/or by a supervising engineer, supervising professional or equivalent manager (approved by CCIL) for aggregate and asphalt laboratories.  Once completed, the form should be sent to the certification office at certification@ccil.com.  The CCIL Certification logo, which can only be used by CCIL certified concrete, asphalt, and aggregate laboratories, is shown below:

It is imperative that the use of the CCIL Certification logo does not misrepresent the specifics of their certification.  It is considered a breach of ethics if a laboratory implies that a laboratory is certified for tests that are not included in their certification program.

The certification office maintains a listing of all logo use agreements.

CCIL Member Logo Request/Agreement

All CCIL member laboratories are strongly encouraged to use the CCIL Member logo whenever possible.  The logo can and should be used in business communication, promotion, advertising with the restriction that only ELS division laboratories can use this logo on their  test reports.  This caveat is included to avoid any confusion that could occur if a member logo was mistaken as a certified logo on a certified laboratory test report.

It is important that only official “document ready” copies of the logos are used to ensure the logo is reproduced with the proper resolution, font, lettering size, and aspect ratio.  Sizing the logo to meet specific needs is allowed if the aspect ratio, resolution and minimum size of 3.2 cm by 1.8 cm are ensured.

Please note that CCIL certification does not automatically infer membership and membership does not automatically infer certification.  Certified laboratories need to apply separately for membership in CCIL.  To determine your membership status, please follow this link: www.ccil.com/member-labs/. Members can request a copy of the CCIL Member logo use agreement by emailing the request to ccil@ccil.com.

CCIL Certification Logo Request/Agreement

All CCIL certified laboratories are strongly encouraged to use the CCIL Certification logo on laboratory test reports.  This Certification logo cannot and should not be used in business communication, promotion, or advertising material.

It is important that only official “document ready” copies of the logos are used to ensure the logo is reproduced with the proper resolution, font, lettering size, and aspect ratio.  Sizing the logo to meet specific needs is allowed if the aspect ratio, resolution and minimum size of 3.2 cm by 1.8 cm are maintained.  The Certification Logo can only be used on test reports for which the laboratory is certified and must be no smaller than 1.25” width (0.7 height with current access ratio) size to ensure the “For specific tests as listed on www.ccil.com is clearly visible.

Certified laboratories can request a copy of the CCIL Certification logo use agreement by emailing the request to certification@ccil.com.
