Paterson Group Inc. Receives CCIL Leadership Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO (October 6, 2025) – Paterson Group Inc., a local geotechnical, environmental and construction materials testing firm has been named a recipient of a 2025 Leadership Award by the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories (CCIL).
The CCIL Leadership Award was established in 2014 to recognize any government agency, association, organization, or individual that has made a positive contribution towards the environment, testing industry or any humanitarian cause.
Paterson Group was one of the early geotechnical engineering forms in Canada, having commenced operations in 1956. It is believed that Paterson Group, now in its 70th year of operation is the oldest continuously operated employee-owned geotechnical engineering firm in Canada.
Paterson Group has been instrumental in the establishment and success of the Canadian Council of Independent Laboratories, and its predecessor, the Canadian Testing Association dating back to 1959. Paterson Group currently employs approximately 170 people and is headquartered in Ottawa, with branch offices in Mississauga, North Bay and Sudbury.
Paterson Group has been key to helping shape Ottawa’s skyline through its excellence in engineering over the past 70 years, and their philanthropic efforts with numerous charities in the Ottawa Community have been an integral part of their corporate culture. Recently Paterson Group has made a $1,000,000.00 commitment to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
“This financial commitment to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation is remarkable and epitomizes what leadership is about” says CCIL President Mark Charbonneau. “Their ongoing commitment to the betterment of the Ottawa community is an example of what we should all strive to achieve.”
On hand to receive the award was Mr. David Gilbert, P.Eng.. President of Paterson Group, and was accompanied by Mark D’Arcy, P.Eng. and Curtis Beadow, Laboratories Operations Manager.
